Chapter 10
The vampire bitch let out a grisly scream and launched herself at me, so I took a huge swing, but she twisted her body to the right to avoid the blow.
âKilllllll,â she screeched as she landed and rolled a few feet to my right.
I didnât realize vampires could jump that far.
She came at me again, but I ducked just in time and was able to catch her leg with my hand and stop her before she tucked and rolled again. She went down hard on her side, and it took a little longer for her to get back up this time.
Her vampire gang wasnât as fast as she was, but they were steadily approaching, and I knew that I had to deal with her before I was overwhelmed by their numbers.
The female vamp ran toward me again, jumped, and kicked out with both feet WWE style. I dodged the attempt and swung my axe at her as she flew by me. The blade cleaved her in the stomach, and blood and guts flew out like candy from a piñata. Her body tumbled to the ground, but despite the severity of the wound, she slowly rose back to her feet.
It would be tougher to take her down than I thought, but her injury gave me a moment to look at her pack of friends.
I guessed it had been at least a few days since theyâd tasted blood, so I had the advantage there, but there were three of them. The first man was tall and skinny with blond hair and a beard. The second had long brown hair that hung past his shoulders and was shorter than me. The third vamp was a huge black guy who looked like he could have been a linebacker for the New York Giants.
It was just me and my axe now.
The blond was in striking distance, so I yanked the weapon back, swung, and caught him in the arm. The axe sliced through his limb, and blood spurted out like water from a sprinkler as the arm fell to the ground.
The blond vamp staggered back and looked down, but I immediately refocused on the other two threats.
âWhere are the humans?â the linebacker growled.
âWe know youâve fed,â the brown-haired bloodsucker hissed and lunged for my throat, but I was able to sidestep, and then I backpedaled a bit to put some space between myself and the two of them.
âIf you know Iâve had blood,â I began, âthen you know Iâm stronger than you and will fucking kill you like I did your buddy over there.â
I swung at the massive vamp with my weapon, and I could hear his bones crunch like fresh snow as the blade penetrated all the way to his ribs.
âAhhh!â the big man gasped, and then his eyes started to roll back into his head.
I tore the axe free since the long-haired and one-armed blond vamp were still coming at me. But it was harder to swing the weapon around now, so I knew I was getting tired.
